THE BASICS Full Name: Charlotte Rose Hart Age and Birthday: 36; 1 November, 1944 House and Graduation Year: Slytherin 1956-1963 (Prefect 1960-62, Head Girl 1962-63) Current Location: Mayfair, City of Westminster, London Blood Status: Halfblood; Muggleborn father, halfblood mother Sexual Orientation: Heterosexual Marital Status: Dating Jack Jones [«] Family: Father, David Hart, b. September 1919, Hufflepuff 1931-1938 GAME INVOLVEMENT Current Job: Auror; she probably smiles considerably more than Auror Moody, but no one can ever say she's any less serious about her work. Charlotte is very by-the-books, determined, persistent, and, on numerous occasions with trainees, pushy. But she knows what an Auror does and she's making sure her team members are just as aware and just as strong-willed in protecting the wizarding society. Sept. 1963 - Aug. 1969: Auror Trainee Political Group: Charlotte is neither part of the Order, nor part of the Death Eaters. Political Knowledge: Charlotte knows no one's identity in the Order or the Death Eaters (save for any captured). She has no idea her fellow chief investigator and brother-in-law is part of one of those either. Skills: Charlotte's areas of expertise falls under stealth and concealment. She became a sparrowhawk animagus in 1979 after several years of practice, a particular quality that she believed would get her the chief investigator spot when she applied for it. (Unfortunately, she didn't get the spot.) During battles, she's usually placed on the offense line. While she's been trained in ALL Defence Against Dark Arts spells, Charlotte's the best at hexes and jinx. Politics: There is no sort of resentment that Charlotte holds in her heart for any political party. This does not include Death Eaters or Order of the Phoenix -- they're not political parties. They're terrorists. And both terrorist groups are not helping society; they're slaughtering it. Therefore, Charlotte's apparent loyalty is with the Ministry of Magic alone. She's a Wrackspurt Party supporter, however, she would never voice any sort of dislike for the Justinian, Walpurgis, or Gillyweed party. They do have important issues... Charlotte does support the Justinians' witch healthcare stand, although she tends to avoid talking about the Walpurgis Party, the Gillyweeds are too eccentric for her taste. But any sort of political talk out of her mouth would be in favor of the Wrackspurt, not in disfavor for anything else. It just seems like a standard to a certain Ministry employee decorum. Past War Involvement: Having been an Auror since 1969, Charlotte has been involved (either directly or indirectly) in numerous events pertaining to the war -- unfortunately, that includes phony tips as well. On 6 October, 1977, Charlotte was at the Ministry when Greyback and his pack attacked. Her efforts contributed to the capture of one werewolf that was tried and administered the Dementor's Kiss. And on the indirect side, during the first battle at Diagon Alley in 1976, her brother, Henry, was injured with a with a muscle-atrophying curse. War Effort: N/A DETAILS 20 Word Sentence Describing Your Character: Charlotte Rose is the ruthlessly ambitious woman who has made work her spouse and wears the pants in that relationship. Personal History: Charlotte Rose Hart was the eldest child (and daughter) born to David and Patricia Hart. Soon after her came her siblings, Constance and Henry. The family wasn't all that extraordinary, yet at the same time, they weren't ordinary either. The Harts are made up of a Muggleborn and half-blood, owning and living on a farm. They were no different than any other set of parents and children that loved and cared for one another equally. David and Patricia instilled the best values they believed into the kids and, like any other normally-functioning parents, were always looking out for the best in their future. But how many younger witches and wizards could honestly say that they also grew up in the company of horses, cows, pigs and chickens? As far as Charlotte could remember, her siblings had always been around. Except Henry came much later. But she was only two when Constance was born so half of her childhood was spent in playing older sister to another girl until Henry came along. Then, they had a dress-up toy. Or at least after he was old enough to walk. Henry would be only four when Charlotte would leave for Hogwarts but their interactions didn't change much in the summer holidays between her classes. She loved her siblings. She loved babying them, occasionally bothering them, and most definitely loved to play out some new adventure around the barnyards. Growing up, Constance had her love for animals. Henry had his passion for their father's books. Where did Charlotte fall? Well, anywhere. She had interests and wanted to learn, but it was definitely not limited to books and barnyard. Books helped, yes, but Charlotte was far too active at that early age to sit down and read. She took up an interest in Quidditch at a very early age because of it. And traveled around a whole lot. Wherever she wanted to go, she'd go. When she was old enough to wander, she'd travel around the nearest town. If they happened to find a cave in the middle of the woods, she was adamant on going in and exploring (this actually led to the first time she ever broke her ulna, when she tripped over a large rock and fell on her arm). There was nothing that Charlotte was not curious about, and that made her excel in her studies when she got to Hogwarts. It was hardly a surprise that her ambition and drive would put her into Slytherin but the news of getting into a House that had been rumored to be full of dark witches and wizards got her slightly worried. Nonetheless, she wasn't a wallflower of any sort. Her curiosity lead her to be the one initiating conversations for the most part and because of an emotional intuition, she had absolutely no problem making friends. In terms of schoolwork, she excelled in virtually anything she found interesting and of some use -- which meant Divinations went out the window. And Care of Magical Creatures? She liked the animals on her farm much better. She did fairly well on the subject at least, but it was not something she was going to stick to after it was no longer a required course. She did, however, thoroughly enjoy Transfiguration, Charms and Defence Against Dark Arts, and thus they were her best classes. Her good grades and popularity among her peers also earned her a Prefect badge in fifth year and then a Head Girl position in her seventh year. When a professor recommended that her ambitious streak be put into work at the Ministry's Department of Magical Law Enforcement, Charlotte was instantly attached to the idea and stuck to it. Knowing what she wanted early in life, having friends, and being pretty with a boy or two vying for her attention, it felt like there was nothing to dislike about her years at Hogwarts at all. But there was a huge issue for her with that House and that had to do with Quidditch. Her love for the sport never wavered from childhood, and she was hoping to try out for the House team. There was just the small ordeal of girls not being allowed on the Slytherin team. She was never put on, and she never got to play, and thus, that was enough to hate Slytherin for a while. It was bad enough that she boycotted going to Quidditch games for almost an entire year until her friends dragged out. Out on the bleachers, there were mixed feelings of euphoria just from the chanting crowd and bitter jealousy for not being the one up there. This was neither the first nor the last time her ego would be bruised, but it was apparent that she really did not forgive easily, was hypersensitive and occasionally vindictive if she didn't get something her way. Charlotte started her Auror training as soon as she could after Hogwarts, having past the necessary required courses with Es. After numerous questioning of as many professors as she could, she felt partially prepared for the training (and heard plenty about Auror Ystad already). During training was when she found that she'd do well in stealth and tracking, due to an already existing track record in her memories of exploration. Pairing that up with a passion for transfiguration and you had a trainee contemplating becoming a registered animagus once she finished her three-year training period. While at some moments, she felt exhausted and ready to take a small impromptu vacation for herself, she kept going until in 1969, Charlotte completed her training and became a full-fledged Auror. It was just in time too, because, the following year marked the beginning of the First War. Families were being murdered or kidnapped left and right and there were people making phony tips. If by luck, she got one, she normally left the scene with an extremely icy glare at the guilty party. She really had no time for this sort of thing, after all. Aurorship didn't seem to get easier after training but, go to a crime scene once and Charlotte could never not see herself in this job. It definitely was the right path for her. She worked diligently, volunteering for heightened security in some locations or institutions, working on the offense line during Death Eater attacks. She was one of the few that saw the worst of the war, including her own brother's injury on the job (it took all of her will, in this case, to not baby him as if he was that four-year-old, again, that skinned his knee badly). Her next biggest change in career followed a night at the Ministry when they were attacked by Greyback and his pack. On, 6 October, 1977, Charlotte was one of the few Ministry workers leaving late. Four could not be saved but the remaining workers managed to fight them off and Charlotte helped wrestle a werewolf and bring him into custody. He was eventually tried and given the Dementor's Kiss and the following year, Charlotte was made into the leader of Squad Team B. However, one victory didn't mean much when there were still more rabid Dark creatures running around, still killing and ripping families apart. There was so much more that she wanted to do and she needed to obtain another title for it. In 1979, she finally was able to complete her animagus transformation, and she was extremely sure that it would contribute into getting her a spot as a chief investigator. And then came yet a second major event of a bruised ego, when she applied for the position at the end of 1979 and it was given to someone else. Someone who, she was told, had better qualifications for the job, even though Charlotte clearly saw she was better. Despite the war being much more important and that she was still a Squad Leader was which still an accomplishment, her hypersensitive side did not like failure of any kind, whether it was her fault, or not. Nonetheless, by now, Charlotte had learned how to internalize it so not to jeopardize a case should interpersonal animosity arise. Plus, 1980 had something to look forward to when she started dating Jack Jones, after the two became closer and closer while investigating threatening mail posts he had been getting. While still being mostly married to her work to have ever had dated that her mother often lamented, they went on a couple of dates and agreed to see where it would lead them instead of dismissing it entirely (luckily, he was in a similar position with his work, being even older than her). Alas, the few men she had tried to date during her time as a trainee or during her earlier years as an Auror, did not find her busy schedule as appealing, especially considering not many of them were part of DMLE. As the year comes to a close, Charlotte continues to keep an open mind on relationships while occasionally having doubts. And continues to harbor massive hatred toward all terrorist groups while still trying not to glare at the back of the new Chief Investigator's head.
